Black Diamond

Choreography: Pascal Rioult
Music: Igor Stravinsky, Duo Concertant
Lighting: David Finley
Set & Costumes: Pascal Rioult
Timing: 11 minutes

First performed on April 17, 2003 — The Joyce Theater, New York

From New York Times Critic Anna Kisselgoff, "An Earthly Dialogue for Contemporary Goddesses":

"Black Diamond" set to Stravinsky's "Duo Concertant". Pascal Rioult has met the challenge of comparision with George Balencine's 1972 "Duo Concertant". Mr. Rioult's approach is creating simultaneous, seperate and forceful solos for two women.

This piece was commissioned by The Grand Marnier Foundation.
